Cheese Cake
My mother gave me this recipe for cheese cake years ago
and it is
really really good.
It is easy to make but has a few steps and a long
process of cooling down.
The egg whites get folded into the cream cheese mixture
and then into the graham cracker crust.
Then in the oven to bake and it comes out looking like this. We like it
plain but a lot of people like it with blueberry or cherry pie filling on it.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb cream cheese
- 1 cup sugar
- 5 eggs, separated
- 1 pint sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Directions:
Line a 9 inch spring form pan with graham cracker crust.
Stir cheese to soften
Add sugar - cream well
Add unbeaten eggs yolks - stir to blend
Stir in sour cream, vanilla, & lemon juice
Fold in stiff beaten egg whites
Pour into pan & put in 300 degree preheated oven
Bake 1 hour
Let cake remain in oven with heat turned off for another hour
Open oven door and let remain for 1/2 hour
Refrigerate overnight - if you can wait that long. : )

ReplyDeleteHeerlijk, heerlijk. I always make cheesecake for birthdays and use French full-fat quark with a drop of Amaretto in it. Yours is better. You make it yourself. I use an Oetker mix. Do you have that there too: Oetker?"
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Oetker mix.
DeleteInteresting cool down step! Looks delicious.
