Sugar Cookies with Icing

Sugar Cookies
Ingredients for cookies
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
Directions
  1. Cream together the sugar, butter, eggs and milk until well combined.
  2. Mix the flour, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl and then slowly add to the sugar mixture until combined.
  3. Roll out small amounts of the dough at a time.  You will need LOTS of FLOUR for rolling out.
  4. Cut with cookie cutters and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  5. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes or until the cookies are done and remove from pan.  The cookies will be light in color.  You don't want them to be lightly brown!
Icing
Ingredients for Icing
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened 
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • dash salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups icing sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • food coloring optional
Directions
  1. Cream butter and cream cheese.
  2. Mix in the remaining ingredients
  3. Spread icing on cooled cookies
Yields about 4 dozen

This is the easiest dough to roll out that I've come across.
I've had this recipe for a while and can't remember where I got it.
