Biscuits

 Biscuits 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tarter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup milk
Directions:

  1. In a bowl stir together first 5 ingredients.
  2. Cut in shortening till mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Make a well in the center, add milk all at once.  Stir just till dough clings together.
  4. On lightly floured surface, knead dough gently for 10 to 12 strokes. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness.  Cut with a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter.
  5. Transfer biscuits to a baking sheet and bake in a 450 degrees oven for 10 minutes or till golden.

Tastes great served warm with butter.
