Caramels

Caramels

Melt 1/2 cup butter in microwave in 8 cup measuring cup or large bowl
Remove from oven

Add
1/2 cup Karo Syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup CONDENSED milk

Stir till dissolved and microwave 3 1/2 minutes  
Stir down
Microwave 3 1/2 minutes more 
Remove from oven.

Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 
Stir until few air bubbles remain
Pour into 8 x 8 buttered dish
Refrigerate till set
Cut into squares

I keep it in the refrigerator till very hard and then break into pieces like you would peanut brittle.
