Cinnamon Biscuits
Before Icing
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup milk
- 6 Tablespoons butter, softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
- Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a medium bowl and mix well.
- Stir in vegetable oil and add milk and stir until blended.
- Kneed dough on floured surface until smooth.
- Spread dough into a 15x8 rectangle.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease a 9 inch round baking pan that has been greased.
- Spread butter over dough.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and mix well and sprinkle over butter.
- Roll up rectangle, jelly roll fashion. Pinch seam to seal.
- Cut roll into 1 1/2 inch slices. Arrange slices in baking pan.
- Bake until lightly browned, about 15 minutes.
- Remove from over and let cool before drizzling icing over top.
Combine 1/2 cup icing sugar, 1 Tablespoon milk, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla.
Pour over biscuits.
Seems like a lot of work and I was thinking that they are a lot of trouble and I would probably stick to the kind you buy in those cans, BUT Ken tasted one and LOVED it, so I will make them again.
This is the first time making these and they didn't come perfectly shaped but I'll probably get better the more I make them.
